Gymnastics has become a very important part of the cheerleading world. The cheerleaders gain strength and flexibility from gymnastics as well as the skills needed to incorporate into cheerleading routines.
It is STRONGLY recommended for all ages to attend gymnastics.
We are looking for the following skills to be learned at gymnastics: standing back handspring, roundoff back handspring, roundoff back tuck, standing back tuck, and other various floor tumbling runs. These skills are usually taught under the class ‘cheernastics’ where the cheerleaders do not learn bars, beam, etc. Unfortunately, we do not have the capabilities of fully teaching these skills at cheerleading practice due to the time and lack of equipment, which is why we recommend attending elsewhere. We can and do practice forward rolls, cartwheels, roundoffs and handstands as well during our regular practices.
There are several gyms that offer tumbling in the area. We recommend East Penn Children's Fitness Academy. They are the closest in location and are familiar with our organization. Please see the link for more information on cost/dates. Backhandspring clinics are offered several times throughout the month, and the Gymnastics vouchers from the Banquet are accepted. Clinic times will also be updated to the calendar and website!
